Cross Country Finishes Strong at Jack and Jills Relays

Steve Lohman XC Invite

Despite a strange start to our first XC meet of the season (tornadoes, lightning and rain…all of which then cleared out for blue sky and sun right before the start of the race), the Spartan Harriers had some VERY strong performances at the Jack & Jill Relays held at Barr Lake State Park Thursday.

The “Jack” (all boys) team of Matthew Tewolde, Blake Huhn, Joseph Krol and Tyler Munro placed third overall (out of eight teams), while the “Jack & Jill” team of Olivia Staab, Kylen Winslett, Paige McEnerny and Silas Pacheco placed fourth overall. The race was a relay, with each runner completing a 2-mile loop before handing a baton to the next runner.

Lastly, several coaches from other teams approached me to let me know how much they appreciated the STEM team’s positive attitude and energy: whether it was cheering for competitors from all teams or thanking the race director and workers afterward.

We have several meets in the upcoming weeks that will be close to STEM-the harriers would love to see you cheering them on. You can also support the team with a purchase from Road Runner Sports in Lone Tree between now and the end of the month- STEM XC gets 10% of the sales.

Thanks for your support of STEM XC!

Chris Smith, Head Coach
