Spartans Compete at Dave Sanders XC Invite

STEM track and field

With the XC season just past the midpoint, the Spartan harriers continued their recent success at the Dave Sanders XC Invite at Clement Park last Friday. Over 60 teams were competing across 2 divisions, making this one of the largest races the team has competed in this season. Once again, several season and/or personal bests were run at the meet honoring Dave Sanders, the Columbine HS teacher who gave his life during the shooting 22 years ago

Silas Pacheco and Lucian Kasperek led the varsity boys team to a 20th place finish (out of 25 scoring teams) in the Division 2 team standings, both breaking 19:00 on a hilly course.

For the varsity girls, Ellason Arendale and Olivia Staab finished 18 seconds apart, helping the Lady Spartans to a 19th place team finish (out of 20 scoring teams).

For the JV Boys race, Westin Maymir and Joseph Krol led their team to an 8th place finish (out of 10 scoring teams).

Shout out to Aubrey White and Eddie Cooper who came out to watch the Spartan XC teams on a beautiful almost fall afternoon. When can the rest of STEM check out the teams in action? The next best opportunity to watch the Spartans race close to STEM will be on 10/14 in the Confluence League XC Championships held at Central Park near Stapleton.

The Spartan XC team races again next Friday, 10/1 at the Thornton XC Invite.

Thanks for your continued support of STEM XC this season.
