Athletics Update from Mrs. Jones (04/13/25)

STEM Athletics Update

Girls Soccer played Englewood on Monday and lost a hard fought game 5-0. The team then travelled to Loveland on Wednesday and came up short against a tough Loveland Classical team.

Boys Volleyball turned in a great effort at Addenbrooke on Monday coming up short in the end 3-1. On Wednesday Vail Christian came to town and swept us in 3 straight sets.

Girls Golf

In a field of seven other teams, and in abnormally hot spring conditions, six STEM players took on the hills of Broken Tee’s par-3 course. Even tee shots that found the green left players facing particularly difficult, undulating greens as their reward.

Spartans senior Sky Goodnight recorded a score of 42 to finish in a tie for second place, only two shots out of the lead.

STEM also received top-five finishes from Analeyna Houghton (45) and Rowan LaRose (46), who finished in solo 4th and solo 5th place, respectively.

Rounding out the STEM contingent were Payton Anderson (52), Avery Zielbauer (52) and London Treece (53).

Hosted by Englewood, the tournament also included players from Kent Denver, St. Mary’s Academy, Skyview, Colorado Academy, JA and Prospect Ridge.

The Spartans will look to build on their promising start to the season at Emerald Greens Golf Course on April 10, in a tournament hosted by DSST: Cole and featuring Englewood and Regis Jesuit.
