Athletics Update from Mrs. Jones (05/04/25)

STEM Athletics Update

Boys Volleyball played their last match on Monday at Aurora West College Prep. Despite playing hard the team lost 1-3 and finished their season at 2-17. This was a tough year for the boys but they battled through missing players and a young team to play hard and push even good teams to 5 sets in many matches. The future looks good for the Spartans after all the experience the players got this year.

Girls Soccer had another busy week! The team hosted Sheridan High School at Marcy Park on Monday, earning a strong 10-0 win. They hosted KIPP Denver Collegiate on Wednesday, losing a well played game 0-3. The Spartans then travelled to Arrupe Jesuit on Friday and lost 4-2 in a really good game. Both sides played hard and entertained the spectators with speed and skill. The team finishes the season at 6-7-2 overall and 3-2-1 in League play to finish in 3rd place. Great job ladies!

Girls Golf is looking towards a week of tournaments to finish out their season. Tuesday May 6th at South Suburban and then again on Friday May 9th at Highlands Ranch Golf Club. The Regional Tournament will be Monday, May 12th for qualifiers. Good luck ladies!

eSports – Middle School is wrapping up their season with just a few matches left. The power outage this week has forced the team to reschedule their match.

One of our eSports Coaches, Rachel Espinosa, has been nominated for Coach of the Year in eSports! Way to go Mrs. Espinosa!

Rachel Espinosa has been nominated for PlayVS eSports Coach of the Year.  She and Geoffrey Pietrovito have done a wonderful job growing our program. We had 24 players this spring, with 4 different eSports teams qualifying for CHSAA or Rocky Mountain Region end of season tournaments this spring.   Better yet, a STEM team made the CHSAA  sweet 16 of Mario Kart, and another team made the Rocky Mountain Region elite 8 of Valorant(and was the final CO team in the Valorant tourney).  These teams compete against all classes(Kart beat Cherry Creek in the CHSAA playoffs), and the Rocky Mtn region Valorant competitors include teams from the US and Canada!

Any players, coaches, admin, or FANS may vote for Rachel…every day!  (only 1 vote per day per voter)

Voting goes through May 16th.
