Construction Begins Soon; Prepare for Impact to Campus Access

New Building Rendering

Dear STEM School Highlands Ranch Families,

As we’ve shared in the Weekly Parent Newsletters over the last several months, construction is set to begin on the New CHSAA Gym and Building Remodel Project on the west side of the campus.

Beginning on Monday, Jan. 17, access to the Middle School Cafeteria doors will not be available as the doors will transition to an emergency exit only during construction.

Additionally, you will notice a fence around the High School Staff Parking Lot (west side of the school) this week. This will be the staging area for the construction team and access to the lot will go away for the remainder of the school year starting on Monday, Jan. 17.

With that in mind, we want to share the following:

  • If your student enters the school building through the Middle School Cafeteria in the morning or exits through the Middle School Cafeteria in the afternoon, they will no longer be able to do so starting next week.
    • All Secondary students will need to enter the school building through the Secondary Main Entrance on the East side of the school.
    • Secondary students may not enter through the Elementary School Entrance.
  • If your student is part of Secondary Before School Care (7-7:30 a.m.) they will enter through the Elementary entrance and meet Mrs. Nason in the Elementary School Lobby each morning to be escorted to the cafeteria. Secondary siblings that are dropped off with their elementary siblings prior to 7:30 may enter through the Elementary Entrance with their siblings.
  • UPDATE: If you have students in both Elementary and Secondary and pick up via the Elementary Driveline, please have your Secondary Student exit through the Elementary School Entrance.
  • If your student is part of Secondary After-School Care (3-6 p.m.), they will need to be picked up at the Secondary Entrance on the East side of the school. After-School Care will still take place in the Middle School Cafeteria. To reach the cafeteria during After-School Care, please call 720-679-7478.
  • If your student takes part in an After-School Activity or Weekend Activity at STEM, they will need to enter through the Secondary Main Entrance.
  • Please review our Driveline Procedures and our Transportation Management Plan so that you know where you can and cannot drop off and pick up students. As a reminder, there is no drop-off or pick-up on the sidewalk around the campus. Drop-off and pick-up must be done through our Elementary and Secondary Drivelines.

As a reminder, this all begins on Tuesday, Jan. 18 (Monday is a holiday and the school is closed).

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding as we continue to improve our campus for our students and community.
