COVID Update – Thursday, Aug. 26 – Elementary Staff Exposure

Dear STEM School Highlands Ranch Select Families,

You are receiving this message because we were notified that one of our staff members has tested positive for COVID-19 and your student was exposed. Your student was exposed on Tuesday, Aug. 24 while meeting with the school Speech Pathologist.

In consultation with Tri-County Health, we’ve determined that this positive case is unrelated to our current positive cases at STEM. For that reason, this has been deemed Low Risk and TCHD has asked that you just monitor your student for symptoms.

For our kindergarten families who are attending for in-person learning, it is at the family’s discretion if they would like to keep their student (who is not COVID positive and not showing any COVID symptoms) home from school, however, we do ask that they please follow the proper attendance procedures by calling the attendance line. We want all COVID-positive and presumed-positive students and staff to remain at home.

If your student is currently in quarantine, please monitor them for symptoms. Also, if your student is in quarantine, this does not lengthen their quarantine unless they become COVID positive or develop symptoms.

Anyone who is experiencing symptoms should stay home and get tested. Anyone with a pending test should not come to school until we have results. If negative, they should not return until symptom and fever-free for 24 hours. If positive, they should move into isolation for 10 days.

NOTIFYING STEM OF COVID-19 POSITIVE CASE
If your student tests positive for COVID-19, please contact our School Nurse, Mallory Jimenez (nurse@stemk12.org) immediately. She will then notify the appropriate STEM Leadership Team members to then initiate our communication process. Ms. Jimenez will then provide instructions on next steps

Please reach out to communications@stemk12.org with any questions.

Thank you,

STEM School Highlands Ranch Communications
