Dear Elementary School Families,

I am hoping we are at the end of the extreme cold we have endured over the past several weeks. I want to thank our families for their patience with all of the virtual days we have had this year. I know it is not easy for families to quickly pivot. Thank you to  everyone who took the time to complete the survey regarding our weather policy. We will be presenting all of the data and recommendations  to both SAC and the board. Updates regarding the weather policy will be provided to families soon.

This week we will be celebrating our Love of Reading with various activities. Our students will have an opportunity to participate in various activities including our Book March Madness bracket, the Bookmark contest, and the Snuggle up and READ event. On Friday, February 28th, we will have a Pajama Day as part of our Snuggle Up and Read Day.

Here are a few important announcements:

Wish Week: STEM will host its annual K-12 Wish Week from March 3 – March 7.  Be on the lookout for more information.

Parent/Teacher Conferences: Parent/teacher conferences will be held the week of March 10-14th. This is a time to communicate and partner with your student’s teacher to ensure a successful end of the year. Please be on the lookout for communication from your student’s teacher to sign up.

Backpack Society: Backpack Society partners with schools in Douglas County, Littleton, and Englewood School Districts to provide meals to kids on weekends and breaks. They also provide weekly groceries to families that might need extra help.

Backpack Society Programs

Student Weekend Bags

Students receive a bag of food each week during the school year, each bag contains 6 meals plus snacks. Bags are packed and delivered to the school by Backpack Society volunteers and the school will distribute them to the student before the weekend.

A weekly grocery program meant to assist not only the child, but their family too. Families have a choice of receiving a weekly grocery box or shopping in our the Backpack Society “No Cost” Market.

Crisis Boxes or Food Box

An emergent supply of food and basic toiletries to help students or a family until they can be connected with county resources.

Holiday Programs

Offered at Thanksgiving and the Winter Holiday season, the holiday program provides a family of 4 to 6 people a traditional holiday meal.
