Enrichment Achievements, Elementary 4th Quarter Clubs, and Summer at STEM
CyberPatriot
Following a hard fought competition, STEM CyberPatriot teams brought home gold and silver medals for Colorado.
1st place gold in the state of Colorado was won by the Commanding Coconuts with team members that included Mateen Z, Michael J, Lucas P, and Luke G.
2nd place in silver was won by the No Backup Plans with team members including; Max V, Tiernan M, Jacob T, and Lorezno L.
Lastly, 3rd place in the silver tier for Colorado was won by team Red Rain, members include Bri S, Adam K, and Spencer K.
Congratulations to our all STEM CyberPatriot teams and their outstanding work at the competition.
Middle School Brain Bowl Teams Headed to State Competition
Two 8th grade teams and one 6th grade team proudly represented STEM at the annual Brain Bowl competition hosted by Optimist International this Saturday.
Our first 8th grade team showed its best in the morning rounds, but unfortunately fell short to qualify for the afternoon. Congratulate Penelope Castaneda, Akshatha Ambalavanan, and Aanya Sinha on their performance!
Our 6th grade team rocked the competition, finishing 1st in the round robin, but falling short in the end by finishing 4th place after some highly competitive knockout matches. This team was composed of 4 highly talented students: Ishaan B, Lakshman G, Avi M, and Hafid A.
Our final 8th grade team was ready to go, finishing 3rd in the morning round robin. This team lost a fiercely-fought quarterfinal, but is ready to go for State competition in a few weeks. Give a big hand to Jace K, Annabelle L, and Rhea M for their excellent showing!
The latter 2 teams will go on to compete at the Brain Bowl State Tournament on February 22nd at Hamilton MS and will be studying their brains off in the meantime. Congratulations to all these wonderful students on a job well done!
15 YEARS OF STEM BEST Robotics
BEST = Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology
15 years ago, a group of students and their parents participated in the BEST Robotics Competition, and it left them wishing for a school where they could engage with engineering concepts along with a more in-depth focus on STEM subject matter to explore learning concepts that were missing at their neighborhood schools. The families embarked upon the process of establishing a charter school. STEM School & Academy opened in 2011 and evolved into STEM School Highlands Ranch over time, and the problem-solving and analytical thinking of the BEST Robotics Competition are encoded in our school’s DNA to this day. To celebrate STEM BEST has created a limited-edition hoodie to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the program. View hoodies.
