At STEM School Highlands Ranch we put innovation at the center of learning to unleash the potential of all students and prepare them for an exponentially changing world.
Christie McConnell started her student internship at STEM in August of 2021 as a Social Studies Student Teacher in Mr. Smith’s World History class and Mr. Gillett’s US Government Class. She also serves as a Substitute Teacher in the Douglas County School District.
Prior to substitute teaching, she worked as an Educational Assistant for three years. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Arizona State University in 2018 and is currently in the Teacher Education Program to get her master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Denver. (graduation 2022)
In her free time, she enjoys Crossfit, hiking and art. She taught herself how to quilt by watching YouTube videos and now makes them professionally. She has two kids (one in grade school and one in middle school), three dogs and a cat. She is originally from Oregon and is a first-generation college graduate. She thinks education is the most important pursuit in life and wants to show her students who capable they are and what education can do for them.
