In 2013, Jalene Vander Hook started teaching in Minnesota after completing her Master of Education program at the University of Minnesota. She was actively involved in theater, speech, and after-school programs. As a result of living in Mexico and getting a minor in Spanish Studies in college, Jalene is also fluent in Spanish.
She joined the STEM Language Arts Department in January 2021, where she originally taught 6th and 7th Language Arts, Honors, and Enrichment classes. This year, she is teaching all of the 6th Language Arts, and you may see her actively helping other teachers and participating in events.
Jalene has various hobbies, such as cooking, rock climbing, cycling, camping, and hiking. The mountains are some of her favorite areas to explore, which is one of the biggest reasons she moved to Colorado with her dog Piper in the first place. There are various theater and musical activities that she participates in because music and theater are some of her passions. She loves working with a diverse group of students with various interests and backgrounds and is super excited for the school year.
