My Bio

Mike McKinney joined the STEM team in July of 2021 as the High School Algebra teacher. Prior to joining STEM, Mike spent the previous 15 years teaching overseas in both Amman, Jordan and Moscow, Russia. Mike worked for Douglas County School District from 2003 – 2006 and is excited to return to Colorado. Mike began his teaching career as a High School Math teacher in 1995, and he has 25 years of experience teaching, learning and making a positive impact in the lives of students.

Mike has a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in mathematics from the University of California, Bakersfield. Mike will be joining STEM with his wife Evgenia (Jane), who will be teaching fourth grade and their three children. During his time overseas, Mike has traveled to over 30 different countries and loves learning about new places and cultures. Mike enjoys swimming, hiking, skiing and spending time with his family.
