Athletics Update from Mr. Alsup (01/13/23)

Hello Spartans and Families,

Below are some athletics updates as we head into the second semester.

Basketball:

January marks the halfway point for our winter sports season. The basketball team is doing an excellent job this season and is excited to play their first true home game against Addenbrook Classical Academy on Wednesday, Feb. 1. That is the tentative date for our gym grand opening, so it should be an amazing experience!

eSports:

The spring eSports season is ready to begin. If you love to play video games and are interested in playing competitively for the school, this is the sport for you. Students can play Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Rocket League, League of Legends, NBA 2K, Hearthstone, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 3, and Madden NFL. Registration for the spring season is already open and will close on Saturday, Feb. 4, so if you want to play, please register now by clicking here. Once again, the registration deadline is February 4th. This is a hard deadline, as we are required to have our members loaded into the syhttps://stem before the start of the season. We are not able to load players who register late. If you have any questions, please contact coach Ryan Price at ryan.price@https://stemk12.org.

Spring Sports:

This spring, we plan on offering boys and girls track, girls soccer, and boys lacrosse (partnered with Highlands Ranch High School). With track and soccer, registration will open soon. In the meantime, this is a good opportunity to make sure you or your son/daughter has an updated physical. Students cannot participate in any athletic event without an updated physical. Physicals are good for a calendar year, however, I would encourage you to update the physical now if it expires during the season. Boys lacrosse is a co-op team with Highlands Ranch High School. They host the team, and registration for lacrosse will go through their website. If your son is interested in playing lacrosse, I will encourage you to visit their website now to get any preseason practice information they may have.

Thank you,

Ryan Alsup, High School Director/Athletics Director
