STEM Students Are...

Innovative. Curious. Problem Solvers. Collaborators. Inventive Change Makers.

At STEM School Highlands Ranch – a seven-consecutive John Irwin School of Excellence award recipient – we believe in unleashing the full potential of every student and redefining the limits of traditional education. As the premier K-12 STEM-focused school in the Mountain West, we are dedicated to nurturing the next generation of STEM leaders. Our dynamic problem-based learning and hands-on curriculum ignite a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. We invite your students to join our community of critical thinkers and innovative problem-solvers through our open enrollment process.

At STEM School Highlands Ranch, we recognize the value of experiencing our vibrant community firsthand. While visiting is not required for enrollment, we highly encourage prospective families to visit our school and learn more. STEM offers multiple opportunities for prospective families to engage in STEM.

School tours offer a comprehensive look at our innovative curriculum and dynamic culture, giving you the chance to witness the exceptional problem-based learning environment that thrives in our classrooms daily. If you’re considering 2025-26 enrollment, we invite you to attend one of our regular Fall 2024 tours to get a true sense of what makes STEM School Highlands Ranch the premier K-12 STEM-focused school in the Mountain West.

Enrollment Priorities

Priority will be given in this order:

  1. Siblings of current STEM students
  2. Founding Families and children and grandchildren of current STEM staff and board members*
  3. Student applicants who are DCSD Residents
  4. Student applicants who are not DCSD Residents

*  An Enrollment Priority Request Form is required to provide proof of enrollment priority.

Enrollment priority does not guarantee enrollment if there is no availability at the applicant’s grade level. Due to enrollment priorities, STEM does not release information regarding a particular applicant’s position on the list. Founding Families, staff members, and board members must complete the Enrollment Priority Request Form in order to provide proof they meet these enrollment priority criteria prior to the First Round Open Enrollment Application period.
Applicants not offered enrollment by STEM during the First Round Open Enrollment Application period will automatically be placed on the annual prioritized list and will have priority over those applicants applying during the Second Round Open Enrollment Application period. STEM’s annual prioritized list will be purged upon the close of the Second Round Open Enrollment period of each year, in accordance with DCSD policies. Applicants not offered enrollment must reapply the following year, as the list does not carry over from year to year.
