Happy Holidays

The fall semester was filled with many amazing accomplishments starting with the 2nd Annual Club Rush, the secondary school’s after-school activities expo in August to kick-off the school year and wrapping up the semester with a spectacular weekend for our robotics programs featuring STEM School’s 1st Annual FIRST LEGO League Festival for our kindergarten through 3rd-grade FLL Explore teams and the crescendo to our high school BEST Robotics team’s season at the Denver Regionals where the took 2nd place for the overall BEST Award!

Mingled in between August and December were a tremendous amount of fun and exploration for our K-12 students after school

Robots, robots and more robots! #WeSpeakRobot

FRC Team Impulse’s robots entertained visitors during Littleton’s Western Welcome Week in August and competed in the annual KCMT in October. Our students, volunteers and staff rallied to support Front Range BEST and Rocky Mountain BEST Robotics and host the season’s competition reveal at STEM, when the hub’s venue canceled on them last minute; elementary experienced the return of the FIRST LEGO League Challenge program in 4th & 5th grade where they had an excellent showing at the South Metro Qualifier in November where the Hackers finished top 10 and the Banana Splits earned the Judges Award.

Beyond the bots

STEM’s Technology Student Association (TSA) middle and high school chapters are bursting at the seams with extraordinary projects as they prepare for the upcoming state conference in February with the in-school run-off competition held earlier this month. Three of our CyberPatriot teams finished their semi-finals in the top 3 of their competition levels. SteMed and SteMed Jr. honored healthcare workers by chalking the walk at UCHealth and then dissecting onions and eyeballs.

Class Acts

Secondary Theater Production presented Clue® a murder mystery play then five days later middle and high school thespians ventured downtown to participate in ThesCon to immerse themselves in the art of theatrics. Our elementary theater production program brought us to Alice’s Wonderland. Elementary chess and craft clubs were able to expand the number of students able to participate for the 2nd quarter with the hope of being able to eliminate waitlists for program participation.

Volunteers Make it Possible

Many of our after school programs wouldn’t exist without the dedication of our parent volunteers. Our FLL, BEST and FIRST Robotics teams are all supported by parent coaches and mentors through a labor of love for their children and quite possibly the chance to play with robots. TSA parents put the “luck” in potluck with a smorgasbord of culinary delights at TSA Run-offs. Middle school Dungeons is organized by fantastic parents that are sharing their love of the tabletop adventure game allowing the club to triple in size and support a half dozen campaigns and 30+ students. Volunteers make the after school enrichment world go round. Thank you all!

Several spring elementary enrichment registrations are now open including chess, crafts, fencing, hip hop, poms & cheer, theater production and yoga. Opening after the break: Girls Who Code (grades 3-5) on Tuesdays starting in late January.
