Why Use PikMyKid? - For Parents

As a parent, school pick-up should be stress-free, efficient and convenient without sacrificing your student’s safety. The PikMyKid smartphone app opens the lines of communication, allowing parents to have better control over who picks up their students and when. The app also allows last minute changes to their dismissal plans right from their phone. You get a real-time alert the moment your student is dismissed to a car, leaves the school to walk home, or goes to an after-school program.

Why Use PikMyKid? - For Teachers

By streamlining the dismissal process with an easy to use App interface, teachers can spend more valuable time with our students and lesson plans. We want teachers to focus on education and not dodge traffic with loud hailers, walkie-talkies, and monitoring carpool emails!

How to Set-Up PikMyKid

Designate Delegates if Needed

Please note: Delegates do not need any QR Code or ID to add/see any delegated child.
Delegates will download the app and create their personal accounts as needed. If your delegate is having issues with registering, please provide their name, phone number and email address for further review and assistance.

After your delegate is registered, you will follow the steps below to add their phone number to one or more days on your child’s dismissal calendar. Delegates will not be able to see your child until they have been assigned for pick up for one or more days.

To add a pick-up mode/delegation change to your child’s calendar:

  1. Select the child’s name from your “Children” tab
  2. Choose the applicable calendar date when you want the change to start OR Select More Actions on your bottom right corner
  3. Select Change Pickup on the box below the calendar OR Create Pickup if using More actions
  4. On the next screen:
    1. Select “Next” if the change is for one day only OR
    2. Select one of the options to repeat the change, choose the last day and days included in the change, then “Next”
  5. Select the desired pickup option from the drop-down.
  6. Select who is picking up (yourself or someone from your contacts)
  7. Confirm Change to save your selection-(Dates marked in orange indicate a pickup change is already scheduled. Tap to unselect if you don’t want to overwrite existing changes)

You will see a green notification on the top of the screen with the confirmation of the changes.
Important:

  • If you do not see the desired pick-up mode in your drop-down menu, please contact your school to enable this option for your child. PikMyKid has no control over the options provided by your school for your child.
  • Select the date on the calendar to display the schedule for the day

Change/Verify my Student's Dismissal Schedule

Changes to your students dismissal schedule should be made no later than 1:45 p.m. via the App. If you have to make a dismissal change after 1:45 p.m., please contact the school’s front office. Follow the steps below to make the changes to your student’s dismissal schedule.

  1. Select the pencil icon in the corner next to the school name.
    • Select the Edit button next to the student’s name.
    • Select “OK” on the next screen to display your student’s calendar.
    • Choose the date for the change.
  2. Select either “Change Pick-Up Mode”, “Delegate to Another Person” or “After-School Programs” and follow the instructions on the screen depending on the choice of dismissal. Decide if it is a recurring change. If so, for how long and how often (weekly, daily, monthly, etc.)
  3. Select “Save Pick-Up Change” to submit. You and the school will be able to see the changes to your student’s calendar.

*Please note: If you did not select the delegate to pick up on a certain day, the delegate will not be able to “Announce” they are there for pick-up on that day.

How to Use PikMyKid

Announce You've Arrived!

Enter the Driveline at the appropriate time, and once you’ve come to a complete stop in line, open the PikMyKid App and click the green “Announce” button that you’ve arrived. Parents can only announce at the school, during the set dismissal hours. Please make sure your phone’s location services are enabled on both your phone and your PikMyKid Parent App.

West Driveline Entrance Times:

  • Kindergarten & First Grade – 2:15 p.m. (Students will be dismissed at 2:20 p.m.)
  • Second-Fifth Grade, with Kindergarten and First Grade siblings – 2:30 p.m. (Students will be dismissed at 2:35 p.m.)
  • Kindergarten-Fifth Grade with a Secondary Sibling – 2:50 p.m. (Students will be dismissed at 2:55 p.m.)

VERY IMPORTANT: Please do not enter into the driveline until your designated time. Doing so slows down our loading and dismissal process.

Pick-Up Mode Process

West Driveline Pick-Up (Cars only)

  • Once you’ve announced, the Driveline Volunteers will move your car into position.
    • The first 24 cars are designated as our “Active Line” and are the cars that will be loaded first.
    • Any cars after the first 24, will be organized into the “Next Line” so that when the first set of 24 cars have been dismissed, they will fill into the Loading Zone and become the “Active Line.”
  • While this is happening, teachers are monitoring the PikMyKid Dismissal Dispatcher tool in their classrooms and will only release students that are in the “Active Line.” Please do not call your student to come down. This creates confusion for teachers and volunteers.
  • Driveline volunteers will “Dismiss” students in the App, once they’ve been loaded into their cars.

Walkers (Parents walking up to pick up their students)

  • Once you’ve announced that you are at the EAST Elementary School Doors, teachers will release the student to be dismissed.
  • A Driveline Volunteer will be there to help get your student to you.
  • You may be asked to show your “Announced” screen to the volunteer for verification.
  • The Driveline Volunteer will “Dismiss” your student from the App.

STEM Dismissal Authorization Form

For families who would like their fourth & fifth grade students to walk on their own off campus, we must have a Dismissal Authorization Form on file. The student should then be designated as a “Walker” in the PikMyKid App.
