At STEM School Highlands Ranch we put innovation at the center of learning to unleash the potential of all students and prepare them for an exponentially changing world.
Kristy Del Olmo Smith joined the team in August of 2019 to teach elementary art. This is her 8th year of teaching visual arts, prior to education she was involved in teaching arts and crafts for the boys and girls clubs of El Paso. Since being at STEM she has encouraged students to find their voice and make their own choices in art class. Using a mixture of Montessori and STEAM, Mrs. Del Olmo prepares the environment for students to explore and create their own masterpieces. Instead of teacher driven projects, students navigate through new materials and techniques with the support of Mrs. Del Olmo.
Kristy is the proud mother to two STEM Spartans with one mini-spartan at home. She graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2013 with her bachelors degree in fine arts and a minor in art education. In addition to loving art, she enjoys camping with her family, paddle boarding at the lake, and playing video games.
