Sara De Weese

My Bio

Sara De Weese started her love for teaching while in middle school as a program aide for the Girl Scouts of America in Memphis, TN. As a program aide, she led songs, skits, and crafts for younger scouts. In college she worked as a tutor helping students become successful so they could complete the mandatory math courses for their desired career.

Upon completion of her bachelor’s in education from the University of Mississippi in 2006, she taught math for four years at Horn Lake Middle School, her alma mater. She spent her summers as a handicrafts director at Kia Kima, a Boy Scout camp in Hardy, Arkansas. In 2011, she and her husband Jonathan moved to Colorado to explore new opportunities.

Sara taught at Arapahoe Community College and was a center director for the Mathnasium Learning Center in Castle Rock. After exploring teaching opportunities with students in K-12 and beyond, she returned to her passion for the classroom. Sara started at STEM in January of 2022 as a Course 1 and Course 2 math teacher and has loved every minute of it. She desires to make math meaningful and inspire students to see what they are capable of with a little encouragement.

When Sara is not teaching, she enjoys cooking, walks in the evening around her neighborhood park, playing Zumba, playing board games, nature, and exploring new adventures in Colorado.
