Another week is done, and I’m very thankful for the weekend. It was a long week, but not because it was a hard one, just because it was busy.
A few days ago, I was able to help the Elementary Driveline by telling drivers not to park in the street before their assigned time. I was very happy with the response we received from parents and their cooperation in following the rules during the days after.
This week, however, I’ve been noticing a couple of things that are not safe. I have seen some parents dropping off and picking up students in the middle of the street. I also noticed a large number of students and parents going across the street right outside the secondary driveline without using the crosswalk. I spoke to a few students, and I explained to them that this is not safe and I am trying to keep them from getting hurt. The majority of students appreciated my explanation. I encourage all students and parents to follow the law and keep everyone safe.
This also goes for the West side of campus. ANYONE who is coming to our campus should be following all of the rules and regulations. That means using the CROSSWALKS and not crossing where there is none.
You can find all the information on what to do and not to do when it comes to pick-up and drop-off as a driver and as a walker/biker on the https://stemk12.org website.
Last year we had a student who was struck by a car on Ridgeline and it was not only traumatizing for the student but also for the driver. Please follow the rules.
Enjoy this weekend! It seems like we will have some nice temperatures. We never know when the cold is coming. Go outside and enjoy the fresh air.
Thank you for helping us to keep our students safe! I can’t tell you enough how thankful I am for having the opportunity to be part of your student’s story. If you have questions, please email me at gabe.uribe@https://stemk12.org, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
If you are reading this and you are one of the parents or students I spoke about not using the crosswalk, please know I only care for your safety.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you again for your time…GO SPARTANS!
Be safe!
