A Message from the STEM Board of Directors

STEM Board of Directors

Dear STEM School Highlands Ranch Families,

Below is a message from Rudy Lukez, STEM Board of Directors Chair.

May 26, 2021

Dear STEM School Highlands Ranch community,

During and since our Board of Directors meeting on May 4 we have received many comments, inputs and observations regarding personnel and operational issues involving our school. Besides those who spoke at the regular meeting, we also received e-mails, text messages, and other communications regarding the topics discussed. The collective feedback spans the spectrum of opinions regarding multiple issues.

This summer we will be working as a volunteer board to organize and address the core topics raised. Some of the questions asked specifically to our school’s staffing and history require further research and more background which will take time. We have already started the process to categorize the inputs and gather additional information.

We are also working quickly to onboard our three new parent Class A board members and get them fully meshed into our processes so that each of my colleagues has a chance to fully and equally participate in our ongoing discussions related to staffing, finances, and operations.

There is no doubt that the last 18 months have been challenging for every member of our community. Every part of our student body, parent community, teaching faculty and operational staff has been impacted by the pandemic. I am personally proud that during this month we’ve delivered our 8th class of graduating seniors and have recently earned outstanding accolades and recognitions for specific students and our school overall.

As a board, we appreciate the feedback. The sheer volume and depth of this month’s ongoing feedback require more effort than usual to deliver responses.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our students, staff and school.
Sincerely,

STEM SCHOOL HIGHLANDS RANCH BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Rudy Lukez, Board Chair (and parent of current and graduated students)
