STEM Communications Update for the 2021-22 School Year

Communications at STEM

With just about a month away from the start of school, the Communications Team at STEM would like to share with all of you some important information about what to expect over the next few weeks to help everyone prepare.

Additionally, for our returning families and our new families, we’d like to share some important reminders on STEM’s Communications Channels so that you are always aware of how to get the information that you may need. The Communications Team has gathered feedback over the last two school years in order to improve our flow of communications to try to meet the needs of all of our families.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

The school has been closed for the last three weeks and select STEM Staff will begin returning to the building on select Wednesdays (July 14, 21 and 28) from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Due to summer renovations to the building, the only entrance that will be available for access is the Middle School Office. The best way to reach any of our staff is via email. Our staff email list will be available next week on our website.

Select Support Staff will return the last week of July and our new teachers will report on Monday, Aug. 2 for a two-day orientation. Our returning staff will report back on Wednesday, Aug. 4 for our four-day full-staff orientation and professional development days, all to prepare for our first day of school on Tuesday, Aug. 10.

STEM’s All-School Calendar will start to populate with events and activities in the coming weeks to please be sure to check it out periodically. You can find all of our calendars on our website here.

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

The Weekly Parent Newsletter is your main weekly source of information for all things STEM. It is sent through Constant Contact so please check your spam folders to designate it as a “Safe Sender”. All family emails that are listed in Infinite Campus have been added to receive this newsletter, and should have received their first newsletter last week. If you are not receiving it, or would like to sign-up with a different email, please use this sign-up form. You can find the archive of all of our newsletters here

The newsletter includes sections specific to Elementary News and Secondary News to help streamline information for our entire K-12 school. Both of those sections include school-specific news and information about upcoming events. Additionally, the newsletter includes a weekly update from Dr. Eucker, information on Social and Emotional Supports, the STEM Center for Strength, STEM PTO, STEM SAC and more. We strongly encourage all of our families to please read through the newsletter each week in order to stay informed.

You can provide Feedback on improvements to the newsletters via the STEM Feedback form for the Communications Team to review and incorporate. The Communications Team also puts together weekly Student and Staff Newsletters, tailored to their needs.

STEMK12.ORG

The stemk12.org website houses all of our important news and information for everything related to STEM School Highlands Ranch. The site will be updated over the next few weeks and new information will be highlighted in the weekly newsletter.

Information for our STEM Parents can be found on the Parent page at stemk12.org/parents. You can find everything you need to know about Getting Involved, Getting Connected and Getting Informed. You can also find school-specific news under the Academics tab by clicking on the school level.

SCHOOL MESSENGER/INFINITE CAMPUS MESSAGES

STEM uses Douglas County School District’s School Messenger platform, as well as Infinite Campus, to send notifications to families that are event/topic specific, time-sensitive and/or Emergency related. The use of School Messenger allows for us to add text messaging and phone calls to the emails that are sent. In order to adjust your settings to receive text messages and phone calls, please adjust your notification settings in your Infinite Campus account. Using School Messenger and Infinite Campus allows for our team to send messages to specific groups of people, such as grade-level and even class-specific.

SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS

You can follow STEM on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn. The Communications Team will use these channels to post news and engaging content for our community.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to communications@stemk12.org

Thank you,

Nicole Bostel, Director of Communications
