Check-In with Ms. Kovalesky

Can you believe that we are just two weeks away from the end of the school year? It has been quite a year and I am so amazed by the resiliency of our students, our parents and our staff. It’s hard to imagine that when we started the school year with COVID restrictions, we would be here today with almost everything back to normal.

I don’t know about you, but I love having all of these events taking place again. Having our building full of life and activity even after the dismissal bell rings brings me such joy. Being able to be together as a community for after-school events, allowing our families to return back to volunteering in person, seeing our driveline full and so much more fills my bucket. A huge shout out to all of you that put in the extra work to make these events a reality.

I want to take a moment to thank you amazing PTO leaders for all that they’ve done this year. Heidi Peterson, Jeanie Brevoort, Irene Shick, and the rest of their amazing team have gone above and beyond to bring our school back to life with their fun community events, staff appreciation events and so much more. If you haven’t joined, please consider joining this great group of community parent leaders. They need you! Email pto@stemk12.org to learn more or visit their page on our website.

As we head into the summer, I wanted to share what the Leadership and Administration Teams will be working on to prepare for the 2022-23 school year. But before I do that, I want to take a moment to recognize them all for the strength, commitment and leadership that they’ve all displayed over the past two school years. It has not been easy and our teams have gone through a lot to get to where we are today.

I am thrilled to lead them and to also support them as they take ownership of their respective areas of expertise. We have so many talented leaders and administrators that are stepping out of the shadows of previous STEM leaders to lead their teams with new and innovative ideas. Much of their work goes unnoticed and underappreciated so I hope you will take some time to thank them for everything that they’ve done.

Here’s what we’re working on over the next few months:

  • Building remodel impacts to Secondary students
  • Student Enrollment Efforts
  • Handbook Updates
  • Staff Evaluation Modifications
  • 2022-23 School Year Planning

While the summer might seem like a long time, I can safely say that it will go by very quickly for all of us. Before you know it, we will be welcoming your student(s) back to school.

Before I sign off, I want to congratulate our 2022 Senior Class on their accomplishments and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors. It was so great to see them all that the Senior BBQ, a great STEM tradition, having fun and enjoying the beautiful weather. We will miss you, but know you will all go on to do great things.

Have a great weekend!

Ms. LynAnn Kovalesky
