It’s time to start planning for the Winter/Spring Semester. Check out this week’s updates to see what is happening and what is available for students to register for. STEM Enrichment is transitioning to My School Bucks for registration payments. Please do not use Greater Giving (stemacademy.ejoinme.org) links for student registrations/payment. Check your email for more detailed information.

Elementary Enrichment News

Battle of the Books

Congratulations to STEM’s 3/4 and 5/6 grades Battle of the Books teams for their first competition win against Saddle Ranch Elementary. The next competition is STEM vs. Ben Franklin on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

ES Ballet

Unfortunately, due to a low registration number, ballet class is canceled for the spring session.

Camp Invention is BACK for 2023 and better than ever!

June 5-9, 2023 from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at STEM School Highlands Ranch.

Proposed Juggling Class Grades K-5

Juggling class will focus on developing the Three Ball Cascade juggling pattern with different mediums such as scarves, softballs, etc. Once students are able to master this technique, they will move on to other forms of juggling.

Secondary Enrichment News

TSA State Conference Parent Meeting

Tuesday, Jan. 30, from 5-6 p.m. – High School Commons

This meeting is for students and parents of students that are participating in the upcoming TSA State Conference. TSA Advisors will cover logistics, expectations and other important detail relating to the conference.

MS/HS Chess Club Volunteer Opportunity

Chess Club is looking for one or two parent volunteers to support/monitor our secondary Chess Club. Mr. Reichmuth would like to work with a parent volunteer to help support the 8-12 students that regularly attend the club on Wednesdays from 3-4:30 p.m. through the remainder of the year. Chess experience isn’t necessary but appreciated. If you are interested, please contact melanie.fitzroy@stemk12.org.

MS/HS Rubik's Cube Club

Thursdays, from 3-3:45 p.m. – Room 134

A club to spend time together learning new Rubik’s puzzles and improving solving speeds. Also a great Club for having fun, socializing, and creating a safe environment. We will meet in room 134 (Mr. P.’s room) on Thursdays from 3-3:45 p.m. Bring your own cubes!

ULA Rocket Payload Class - Interest Meeting

Monday, Jan. 30, from 3-4 p.m. – Room 114B

Available to grades 6-12. This spring and summer, STEM has been given the opportunity to participate with the ULA Student Rocket Launch Program.

Retired ULA engineer Jeff Dunker has partnered with STEM to teach students grades 6-12 how to build payload that will be carried by a rocket. In the past classes have included electronics (beginner & intermediate), Autonomous Robotics,the machine, assembly, and the C programming languages, Newtonian Physics and material science, static and dynamics, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus and differential equation and Linear Equation at a basic level enough for the class but not the complete subject. Basically any subject that class needs. Past classes have also studied parachutes, airplanes, gliders, boats & buoyancy, land rovers, waterproofing, and many small subjects.

Ultimate Frisbee Interest Meeting

Friday, Feb. 10, From 3-4 p.m. – Room 234

The Ultimate Frisbee team is back! We will have an interest meeting on Friday, Feb. 10 in room 234. Come play, make friends, and learn new skills! New and experienced players are welcome. The team will practice twice a week starting late February as well as play in the Altitude Youth Ultimate league against other schools.
