Advance Choir Club Grade 4-5 Now accepting audition videos

In STEM’s Elementary Advanced Choir Club, students will learn a minimum of 5 songs that will be more rigorous and more challenging than the songs we learn in normal class. Students who audition for the Adv. Choir Club should want to learn harmonies, possibly sing solos, and perform in a small group to really hone in their musical skills. If your student would like to audition, please help them record and submit a 2-3 minute video of them singing an appropriate song of their choice. It could be a cappella or with a karaoke backing track as an audition. If you’re unable to submit a video, Ms. Erin will have a limited number of time slots available between February 1-7 to pull students for auditions. The video upload submission is the preferred method of auditioning. Videos will not be shared and will only be used for auditioning purposes.

Next week’s newsletter – Summer camps registrations and 4th quarter registrations will open for Chess, Craft Club and Fencing clubs.

Good Luck in the State Championships STEM School Brain Bowl Team 8A!

The competition is this Saturday at Hamilton Middle School.

Congratulations to our MathCounts program for qualifying for the State Championship!

Our 6th/7th-grade team comprised of Yash A, Sylvester H, Ethan L and Shriya M finished 6th overall in the competition. Sylvester and Shriya qualified to compete in the MathCounts State Championship at Denver University on Saturday, March 16th. A big thank you to STEM math teacher Holly Li, our first-time MathCounts coach, for dedicating her time and energy to preparing our students for the qualifier. Way to go Spartans!

Robotics Team, FRC Impulse 4418, Sponsors Needed!

FRC Team Impulse 4418 is currently struggling to sustain itself through this competition season and must raise $45,000 this year to continue to supply the same benefits to our community as we have done in previous years. With a reduced budget, our options for robot construction become more limited and our ability to create a competitive robot for our district that exposes students to industry-relevant software, electronics, and manufacturing techniques becomes more difficult. If we fail to raise enough money, we may face the possibility of shutting down. To cut down our costs, we have resorted to tearing apart our previous robots for parts, limiting the number of robots we can field at outreach events to our community. Factoring inexpensive registration fees, we are struggling to compete at our usual pace.

Impulse is an independently funded team, so any support would greatly assist us this FIRST Robotics Season. The funds would help us pay for the maintenance that allows our team to build skills throughout the season, food for our 28-person team, and the materials needed to build the 2 robots we bring to competition each year. Our operating budget sits at around $30,000 per season, and we are planning on expanding our fabrication efforts this year in order to increase our chances at the national-level competition.

Please feel free to have a look at the attached Sponsorship Packet, which outlines our goals, sponsorship levels, and our mission as a team. If you have any questions or would like to sponsor our team, please reach out to first4418@gmail.com for any additional information!
