STEMShares Logo

Dear STEM School Highlands Ranch Families,

We received final approval from the Douglas County School District that our request to change Friday, May 7 from a virtual day, to a no-contact day (no school) has been approved.

Our calendars have been updated and our staff has been informed. Please share this with your students.

STEM will once again hold its #STEM Shares event the week of May 3-7. Here is a message from Elizabeth Brown, our Recovery Coordinator:

Dear STEM School HIghlands Ranch Families,

We want to let you know that we will again focus our efforts on STEMShares for the week of May 3-7 to commemorate May 7. Since this day will be a no-contact day (no school for students and staff), we wanted to share the following information with you.

We want to invite our entire community to participate in #STEMShares by doing Acts of Kindness, Acts of Service and Acts of Donation. This could include donating to a charity or non-profit organization, volunteering, helping a family member, reaching out to a friend you haven’t connected with in a while, or anything else you can think of to provide a moment of connection with others.

Please take a moment to check out our STEMShares webpage so that you can see some of the suggestions that have been shared with us from our community. Included on this page is our Submission Form, where you can share with us the different Acts that you took part in. We’ll update the page with each submission and share on our Social Media channels for our community to see.

Also please know that people may exhibit increased stress and anxiety as we approach the two-year mark. Some things you can do to support others include:

  • Consider limiting the amount of exposure to coverage on television, internet, and social media
  • Talk to your children about what has happened and how they are feeling
  • Stay connected with your loved ones

If you or someone in your family needs help, please refer to our mental health resources page

Additionally, we’d like to encourage our community to connect with our STEM Center for Strength on the latest events and opportunities that they are planning.

We look forward to hearing about your activities this year!

Thank you,

Elizabeth Brown, Recovery Coordinator
