Michelle Horne Voted to Join STEM Board of Directors as Class A Parent Member

STEM Board Chair Rudy Lukez, and the rest of the Board of Directors are excited to announce that Michelle Horne was voted by our community to join the STEM Board of Directors to fill the final Class A Parent position.

Michelle has a seventh-grade student at STEM and is finishing up her first year as a member of our community. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and a Masters in Teacher in Secondary Education. She taught sixth-grade science for 10 years in Maryland. A total of 459 parents voted, which is up from last year’s election that saw 419 people vote. Only 6.3% of parents abstained from voting this year, which is the lowest number since the Board started conducting their voting electronically.

Below are the results of the election:

  • Michelle Horne – 129 Votes (30%)
  • Benjamin Ryder – 124 (28.8%)
  • David Lee – 68 (15.8%)
  • Michelle Moss – 66 (15.3%)
  • Katerina Yared – 43 (10.0%)

Voting was conducted by SimplyVoting from May 10-14. Ballots were sent via email to addresses on file in Infinite Campus.
