Monthly Board Meeting Reflections from Board President Roy Martinez – February

STEM Board of Directors

Dear STEM School Highlands Ranch Community,

We are mid-way through the school year and your STEM Board of Directors continues to stay on track with the initiatives that were outlined at the start of the year.

Now at full capacity with nine-volunteer members, I am happy to share that we have some of the most high-functioning, passionate and mission-driven members who are committed to ensuring that STEM continues to be innovative, forward-thinking and strategic in our actions.

During our monthly meeting, the Board heard a proposal on exploring the possible expansion of the current Virtual Friday program that is in place for our high-achieving High School students. A Teacher Innovation Team will be looking at current data of that program, as well as the pros and cons of the program. They will gather input and feedback from teachers, students and parents through surveys, and then make recommendations to the Board on how to proceed.

Additionally, this team will be looking at ways to provide more Specials options for Elementary Students that would provide some additional planning time for Elementary teachers.

The Board also gave its support to move forward with the process of recruiting and hiring of the new Executive Director. More information will be shared by Dr. Eucker via the Weekly Newsletters on how you can be involved in the process.

The Board is working hard to ensure that the transition of Dr. Eucker from current STEM Executive Director, to CEO of KOSON Schools, is seamless and sets up our new Executive Director for success. Part of that process is shoring up the CEO’s employment contract to make sure that the Roles and Responsibilities are clearly outlined.

We have more work to do over the next few months, and I am happy to have a solid group of Board members who are all working toward the same goal.

We are STEMStrongerTogether,

Roy Martinez, STEM Board President/Chair
