Driveline Process for 2020-21 School Year

Student Safety is the Primary Concern and Goal During Driveline. This page outlines important information that each family must know for both the West and the East Drivelines. Please review this information prior to the start of school to assist us with a smooth driveline.

Elementary Driveline Using PikMyKid for 2021-22 School Year

Our Elementary School Driveline will be using the PikMyKid App for the 2021-22 School Year. PikMyKid is a dismissal program that provides an additional layer of safety and security to ensure that our students are be dismissed to the appropriate parent/guardian on the correct day. The use of this program also helps for us to enforce and maintain social distancing practices during the dismissal process. Click the button to the right to find out more about PikMyKid.

Secondary Carpool Program

Carpools enjoy special Driveline perks! There is a carpool “express” lane in the East (Secondary) Driveline Loop. Carpools (meaning three or more students, or three or more families riding together) will need to obtain a carpool sticker to use the carpool lane. The school has partnered with “Way To Go: School Pool” to help families find carpool groups. In order to register, follow the instructions below.

  1. Log into DCSD Infinite Campus Parent Portal, select a student and then click on transportation on the left menu.
  2. Use the secure link to get to the Way To Go site and create an account. For security reasons, this link is the only way to enter the system for STEM School Highlands Ranch. You can register with a nearby intersection instead of your home address.
  3. Using the Way To Go website, create an account to find interested STEM families in your area.
  4. Click the button below to request a Carpool Placard if you will be the one picking up the carpool.

Placards

Every car that enters either our West or East Drivelines needs to use a placard. Placards will be pre-printed at the start of the school year and will be made available for pick-up on select dates. Please see the parent newsletter pick-up dates.

Placards must be visible in the front window to assist our driveline staffers with identifying the student that needs to get into that car.

How do I get a placard?

For Elementary families and families with students in both Elementary and Secondary, please email support@stemk12.org with your student’s name(s) and grade(s), so that a placard can be assigned and printed for you. You will then receive instructions on how to pick up your placard.

For Secondary only families, please complete this Secondary Driveline Placard Sign-Up form to request your timeslot. You will then receive instructions on how to pick up your placard.

If you would like to take part in our Secondary Carpool Program, please follow the steps above. Elementary Carpool is set up through “delegations” in PikMyKid.

Loop Directions

West Loop Elementary (ES) and ES/MS/HS siblings with a variety of grade levels. Groups with a variety of grade levels to drop at school will drop-off and pick-up just once at the West Loop.
East Loop Middle School and High School (MS/HS)
Pick-up time is determined by the OLDEST SIBLING’s dismissal time. Families with all Elementary Students or a mixture of Elementary and Middle and/or High School Students in their car will use the WEST pick-up loop for both drop-off and pick-up. Families with only Middle and/or High School students in their car will use the EAST loop for both drop-off and pick-up. MS/HS students dropped off in the morning at West Loop can go to the MS cafeteria after 7:20 a.m. as long as they sign-in on the ‘ES sibling/car list’. If they arrive before 7:20 a.m., then they need to walk toward the Middle School Entrance. Currently, the High School Entrance is not open to students. Students will then be released to class after 7:30 am.

Loop Pick-Up Times

Pick-up Time Window Color West ES Loop East MS/HS Loop
2:20-2:30 p.m. Green Kinder – 1st
2:30-2:40 p.m. Orange 2nd – 5th
K-1 with ES siblings
2:55-3 p.m. Yellow K-5th with MH/HS siblings
2:55-3:05 p.m. Pink Middle / High
3:05-3:15 p.m. Blue Middle / High

NOTE: CARS WILL BE ALLOWED INTO THE PARKING LOT DURING YOUR ASSIGNED PICK-UP TIME WINDOW OR AFTER.  This is critical to the effective flow of cars. We are not able to accommodate cars that arrive earlier than their assigned time window due to their rider not being outside and ready for loading in the pick-up zones.  Site parking space is limited and there will be nowhere for extra vehicles to wait.

Elementary students will wait inside their classrooms for their parents to announce their arrival via the PikMyKid App. Once the parents have been moved into the “Active Line” (Loading Zone) in the App, students will be released from the classroom and allowed to load into their cars. Elementary students that have not been picked up by 2:55 p.m. will be escorted to their class stones to wait with our staff for their car to arrive.

  • For Elementary Students: Any student not picked up by 3:15 p.m. will report to BASE (after-school program) located in the Elementary School gym.
  • For Middle School and High School students: Anyone not picked up by 3:15 p.m. will need to report to the Middle School cafeteria for after-school care.

Enforcement policy – citations and fines will be instituted if Driveline rules aren’t followed.
