UCCS Aerospace visits STEM's 6th grade science class and gives demonstrations about space exploration

A special thank you to University of Colorado Colorado Springs Mechanical and Aerospace Department for visiting Ms. Hart’s science classes.
The students loved hearing about the physics of space and what is still yet to be understood. A great presentation full of amazing facts and classroom demonstrations!

STEM students earn several top awards at LEGO League Explore Competition

Our First LEGO League Explore teams had an excellent showing at the FLL Festival this past Saturday.
It was the culmination of all their hard work leading up to it. We had seven teams participating and each team was acknowledged with a specific award in addition to their participation medals.

Bringing STEM staff smiles with a taco surprise

Our PTO dropped off a taco lunch to our hard working staff! Thank you to STEM School Highlands Ranch PTO and for your generosity. Our staff was all smiles and greatly appreciate it.

STEM students making full use of new building renovations

Wasting no time!
STEM students are taking full advantage of our newly renovated building and gym. In the weight room, many students are lifting for the first time and learning the fundamentals using top notch equipment. In the Middle School Commons area, students are using the new space and tables to study and socialize. In the gym, students are going way beyond just basketball. This week we saw an exciting kickball match and more!

STEM students advance to State Spelling Bee

STEM success on the big stage!
The Douglas County School District Spelling Bee saw about 100 students from all Douglas County schools participating in a written test for vocabulary and spelling.
The top 34 students from the written portion were selected to participate in an oral round. From the oral round, the top 25 students were selected to participate in the Colorado State Spelling Bee.
Both STEM school Highlands Ranch students, Sophia Bertsch (8th grade) and Anirudh Rao (5th grade) qualified and advanced to be part of the state event sponsored by The Denver Post.
Congratulations to Anirudh and Sophia!

STEM student created promo for STEM Theater Fest and The Jungle Book

A reminder that this week on Friday, February 10th and Saturday, February 11th, STEM School Theater Production is presenting The Jungle Book and the 1st Annual STEM Theater Fest. The Theater Festival is set for Friday from 3-6 p.m. and the performance will be at 6 p.m. that day. On Saturday, there will be a matinee at 2 p.m., festival from 3-6 p.m. and the performance will follow at 6 p.m.

STEM 5th graders and Kindergarteners join together for unique celebration

Celebrating 100 and 1000 days!
A unique event for our Kindergarteners and 5th graders. The little ones are celebrating their 100th day of school, while the 5th graders are celebrating their 1000th day of school since Kindergarten.
Both age groups worked together in teams to design quilts on paper and chains. A creative collaboration and fun activity for all!
