Spartans Have Record Day at Pat Amato XC Classic

2022 Cross Country

To say that the Spartan cross country teams had a great day at the Pat Amato XC Classic last Friday would be an understatement… With perfect running weather, teams from all over Colorado (and even some from South Dakota and New Mexico), the Spartan harriers certainly took advantage:

ALL BUT 3 SPARTANS RAN SEASON- AND/OR PERSONAL-BESTS ON FRIDAY!!

Lucian Kasperek set a new school record for the boys 5K, running 17:12.30, beating the previous record held by Ben Vickland by over 2 seconds. Silas Pacheco (17:58), Jacob McCallister (18:21), and Cole Getting (19:01) also ran their best races of the season, helping the varsity boys team to an18th place finish (out of 26 scoring teams).

Abby Hullinger (running solo in the girls varsity race) missed breaking 22:00 by only 1 second, but dropped over 1 minute from last week!

The boys JV team placed 15th (out of 18 scoring teams), led by season-best runs from Nicholas Leake-Jara (20:16), Andrew Hathaway (20:53), Tyler Munro (22:17), Atticus Shure (25:27) and Ben Yoder (26:02).

The biggest drop in time for the Spartans came in the girls’ JV race: Julia McCallister ran a season-best BY OVER 3 MINUTES, finishing in 24:51. Paige McEnerny was only 7 seconds behind Julia, finishing with another season-best performance.

The Spartan harriers will compete on Tuesday at the Confluence League XC Championships at Expo Park in Aurora. We could certainly see plenty of 1st Team All-Conference performances, and have a shot at bringing home team championships as well!!!
