Michelle Horne

My Bio

Michelle and her family are new members to the STEM community. Michelle and her husband, Glenn, have a seventh-grader (2020-2021) at STEM. Joining the community during a global pandemic has had its challenges and the opportunities for volunteering have been less, but Michelle looks forward to joining the Curriculum Committee and being present on campus much more next year. Historically, she has enjoyed being a class mom, and donating time wherever needed.

Professionally, Michelle started out earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She returned to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Science. She taught Middle School Science for close to 10 years in Maryland and California. While in Maryland, she was part of her alma mater’s teacher training program and mentored student teachers for seven years. She left teaching upon marrying and moving frequently with her military husband. Currently, Michelle does freelance science writing and editing, contractually, for NWEA. Mostly on the MAPS testing.
