Walking the Beat with Deputy Gabe

Another graduation, and off they go! What a great day it was on Thursday. Every year is the same feeling. A feeling of nostalgia that I probably won’t see some of the students anymore, but also a feeling of happiness knowing they are going to do great things.

Every year, during graduation, I am reminded by many people of the reasons why I do what I do. I want to thank the students (current and former) and the parents that on graduation day came to talk to me. The hugs and the words we exchanged were extremely meaningful to me. There is a rumor that maybe a tear or two came out, too 😊.

Now, here we are, almost at the end of the school year and heading to the summer break. Warm days are coming, and we can spend much time outside playing and having fun (or working too). Please be always safe in what you do. Riding a bicycle? Wear your helmet. Swimming? Don’t go too deep and have somebody with you. Playing outside? Get some sunblock on! So many different activities and so many different things to do to stay safe. But remember, the most important thing to do is to have fun! If you see me in the county patrolling, make sure to say HI! And one last thing, remember that the best way to keep our children out of trouble is being around and keeping them busy.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your student’s story this school year. It was an honor and a blessing to serve each one of you. I look forward to seeing you in a couple of months! If you have questions about anything, please email me at gabe.uribe@stemk12.org, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. And again, hug your loved ones, and smile at a stranger. Remember what I have said in the past, a simple gesture like that can change somebody’s life.

GO SPARTANS!

Be safe!

Deputy Gabe
