Walking the Beat with Deputy Gabe

I believe a few weeks ago, I shared with you a quote from the I Love You Guys Foundation. The quote was, “Peace: It does not mean to be in a place where the is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.” This quote has been really helpful over the last week and a half or so. I have been very busy, and sometimes all the “noise” (busyness) makes it hard for me to hear. I am glad to be able to sit down again to write something for this week’s newsletter.

Yes, it has been busy. This is normal, though. As we approach the holidays, we notice how students, parents, staff, and everyone else start feeling slightly different. What’s important here is that at STEM, we continue to work hard to be there for our students and parents. I am always open and ready to assist our students and to try to guide them through any tough circumstance they may be facing. Please let your student know that I am here to support them. Again, the holidays affect us all in different ways (positive and negative). Remind your students that nobody has to navigate storms by themselves…especially when there are so many of us here at STEM ready to step in and help.

On a different note, I wanted to share my experience “teaching” this last week. Mr. Griffin invited me to talk to all his 8th-grade Social Studies classes to talk about the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments to our Constitution. It was amazing! Not me, but the experience is what was amazing. I enjoyed interacting with all the students and answering their questions. I am passionate about this topic, and I find it a huge honor to be asked to talk to our students about this.

Only one more week before Thanksgiving break. Hopefully, next week will be a little bit less busy. Still, thank you for helping us to keep our students safe! I can’t tell you enough how thankful I am for having the opportunity to be part of your student’s story. If you have questions, please email me at gabe.uribe@stemk12.org, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Stay warm, and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.

Thank you again for your time…GO, SPARTANS!

Be safe!

Deputy Gabe
