Athletics Newsletter from Mr. Alsup – eSports News

Athletics Update Image

Attention STEM Spartan High Schoolers,

Do you love playing video games and want to do it competitively against students from other schools? If you do, then I have good news for you, eSports is here! Pre-season practices will begin on September 5 with the first competitions starting the week of September 26. Our eSports teams started us off strong last year by beating the competition in the Rocky Mountain league. However this year we expect to face tougher competition as we enter into the CHSAA league and play against schools in our area. Here is a list of the current games:

Game Number of Team Members Platform Game Day (times are all 4:00)
League of Legends 5 PC/MAC Tuesdays
Splatoon 3 4 Nintendo Switch Tuesdays
Overwatch 6 PC
Super Smash Brothers Ultimate 3 Nintendo Switch Wednesdays
Rocket League 3 PC/Console Thursdays
Madden NFL 22 1 PlayStation 4 Thursdays
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 4 Nintendo Switch Thursdays
Hearthstone 3 PC/Console Thursdays
NBA 2K23 1 PlayStation 4 TBD

NBA 2K23 is scheduled to have a mid September release. Game times will be determined at a later date.

This is a certified activity through the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA). Students who sign up are agreeing to participate for the fall season. There will be a coach who will organize all events. We will also charge our $150 activity fee, which will cover the costs of the licensing and some equipment needs. If you are interested, please click the button below to take an interest survey.

Please note, completing the interest survey does not register you for the team. If you would like to register, please click the button below. It is better that you register with a team, so if you have any friends (must be STEM high school students or attend a school that does not have eSports) please have them register as well.

Take care everyone and have a great weekend!

Sincerely,
Ryan Alsup
