NMSQT, SAT and PSAT 8/9 Coming Up on October 12

Testing Information

MNSQT and SAT Information

Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 7:50 a.m. to 12 p.m.

On October 12, 2022, STEM juniors will take the PSAT/NMSQT and STEM seniors that signed up will take the SAT. These assessments are not part of state-mandated accountability testing, but an opportunity for students to improve SAT scores or practice for the SAT. The NMSQT is used as a qualifier for the National Merit Scholarship Program. For more information about these assessments please visit www.collegeboard.org.

K-8 Typical School Day

  • 6th, 9,10,12 Virtual day – students will log into canvas and/or zoom to complete attendance and coursework per their teacher’s instructions.
  • 11th grade takes NMSQT unless they have informed the school that they would like to opt out
  • 12th graders that signed up for SAT will test (the rest will be virtual)
  • Those testing will be responsible for knowing missed content, missed tests or quizzes and project work but will be excused from afternoon assignments/homework.

Schedule:

October 12
Students report to assigned testing rooms 7:45-8:00 a.m.
Testing room doors close 7:55 a.m.
Testing starts 8 a.m.
Testing concludes – 11th grade approximately 11:30 a.m.
Testing concludes – 12th grade approximately 12 p.m.

*If testing with accommodations, look for a separate email closer to the testing date with different release times.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should my student bring to school?

  • Several No. 2 pencils with erasers
  • An approved calculator

What time should my student arrive?

  • Please be sure that your student arrives by 7:40 a.m. at the latest. Testing room doors will close by 8:00 a.m.  and once testing starts any late students will not be able to test.

Can my student eat lunch at school?

  • Please plan on your student eating off campus after their assessment. The high school cafeteria will be closed.

I have an elementary/middle school student, how does testing affect him/her?

  • K-5 will have a regular day.  6th grade will be virtual. 9th, 10th and those 12th graders not testing will be virtual.

PSAT 8/9 Information

Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 7:40-11 a.m. 

On Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022 STEM 7th and 8th grade students that did not opt-out, will take the PSAT 8/9. This assessment is not part of state-mandated accountability testing, but an opportunity for parents, students, and teachers to see what skills students need in order to prepare for High School and college. More information about the PSAT 8/9 can be found here. Following testing, students will resume their daily schedule. Students in grades K-5 will follow their normal schedule.  Students in 6th, 9th, 10th and those 12th graders not testing  will follow their typical schedules virtually.

Schedule:

October 12
7th and 8th grade students will take the PSAT 8/9
Students report to assigned testing rooms 7:45-8:00 a.m.
Testing room doors close 7:55 a.m.
Testing starts 8 a.m.
Testing concludes at approximately 11 a.m.
Period 7 11:11 a.m.-1:15 p.m. (follow regular lunch schedule)
Period 9 1:20-2:55 p.m.

*Students with accommodations may have a different dismissal time. Parents will receive an email if this is the case for their student.

What time should my student arrive?

  • Please be sure that your student arrives prior to the testing room doors closing at 7:55am. Testing will start promptly at 8:00am. Once the testing room doors close and testing starts, your student will not be able to test.

What does my student do if they are not taking the test?

  • Students in grades 7 or 8 who opted out of testing, should remain home and check with their teachers for the assignment posted in canvas. Regular classes will resume for P7 at 11:11 so your student could arrive to school for the afternoon.

Can my 7th or 8th grade student eat lunch at school?

  • Yes, lunches will be held like a typical school day.
