Spartan XC Has SPECTACULAR Day at Liberty Bell Invite

Boys Cross Country Team Huddle

After enduring several days of brutal heat, the Spartan harriers took advantage of PERFECT running weather (50 degrees and overcast with no wind) and put down some GREAT times on Saturday at the Liberty Bell XC Invite-one of the largest (and fastest) meets of the year!!

Barely missing the podium, Lucian Kasperek led the boys’ team with his 15th-place finish, running a new personal record (PR) of 17:15 (less than 2 seconds off of the current school record held by Ben Vickland). Silas Pacheco (new PR), Jacob McCallister, Kylen Winslett, and freshman Cole Getting (new PR) rounded out the team scoring for the Spartans. Overall, the boys’ team placed 8th out of 22 teams in Division 3, race-only 1 point away from 7th!!

On the girls’ side, Abby Hullinger led the girls, placing 32nd overall with a new personal best of 22:07! Julia McCallister and Lasya Gudur ran season-best times for 5K as well.

When it was all said and done,11 Spartans out of 17 ran a new personal best on Saturday. Check out the results below.

On a side note, the current US #1 time and #3 Colorado all-time girls mark was set in the Sweepstakes Race! Thanks to those who came out to support these student-athletes!

The Spartan harriers compete again this Friday at the Arvada West Durden XC Invite.
